By using 2markdown.io (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What the Service is

2markdown.io is a free online tool that converts PDF files into Markdown text. Conversion is performed either entirely in your browser (for native PDFs) or, optionally, via Google's Gemini API (for scanned or complex PDFs, when you opt into AI mode).

The Service is provided without registration, payment, or contractual commitment.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Convert content you do not have the legal right to process, including copyrighted material you do not own or have licensed.
Attempt to bypass rate limits, security measures, or abuse-prevention systems.
Submit malicious files designed to exploit our systems or third-party services.
Use automated tools to convert content in bulk in a way that places undue load on our infrastructure.
Conduct illegal activity, distribute malware, or violate the rights of others.

We may block access from IP addresses or networks that violate these terms.

Your content

You retain all rights to the files you upload and the Markdown output produced. We claim no ownership of your content. We do not store your files or output beyond the brief processing window described in our Privacy Policy.

You are solely responsible for the legality of the content you convert.

Third-party services

When you opt into AI mode, your file is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. By using AI mode, you also agree to Google's terms applicable to that service. We are not responsible for Google's processing, retention, or availability.

The Service runs on Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare's terms apply to the underlying delivery of the Service.

Availability

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, response time, or continuous availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

Rate limits are subject to change. Currently AI mode is capped at 5 conversions per day per IP address.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT CONVERSION RESULTS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR FIT FOR YOUR PURPOSE. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to USD 0.

Modifications to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of Singapore.
